Before Christ

From 600.000 to 10.000

Paleolithic and Mesolithic period; ancient human remains were found on the south bank of Lake Tiberius in approximately 600 thousand B.C.



From 10.000 to 5.000
Known as the Neolithic period. It is characterized by the establishment of sedentary farming communities.



From 5.000 to 3.000
The Chalcolítico period from which copper tools, and stone artifacts were found near Jericho, Beersheba and the Dead Sea.



From 3.000 to 2.000
This period is prior to the Bronze Age. This period marks the arrival and settlement of the Canaanites (along with the Philistines which are the ancestors of the Palestinian people).



Between 965 and 928
This is the period of the reign of King Solomon and the construction of the Temple of Jerusalem..



In the year 928
The division of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah occurs.



In the year 721
Assyria conquered the kingdom of Israel.



In the year 586
Judah was conquered by the Babylonians under the command of Nebuchadnezzar.
Deportation of people to Babylon and the destruction of the Solomon’s Temple.



In the year 539
The Persian conquest of Babylon occurs. Also, the deportees were allowed to return and begin the construction of a new temple.



In the year 333
Alexander the Great conquered Persia and Palestine remains under Greek government.



In the year 323
Alexander the Great dies and the governments of Ptolemy start in Egypt and Syria.



In the year 165
The Maccabean revolt against the Governor Seleucus (Antiocus Epiphanes) and establishment of an Independent State.



In the year 63
Palestine joins the Roman Empire.
